Furthermore, a number of networks and agencies support action in education and training, namely the Audiovisual, Education and Culture Executive Agency and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
Examples of some significative instruments, action plans and initiatives in the area of education:
- Creation of 'European higher education area' by 2010. The next milestone of the European Higher Education Area will be marked with the upcoming Ministerial Conference, which will take place in April 2012,
- The European Commission’s initiative Netd@ys Europe which goal was to promote the use of the new media in education and culture,
- eTwining initiative is open to the Community for schools in Europe so that teachers from all participating countries can register and use the eTwinning online tools to find each other, meet virtually, exchange ideas etc.,
- The adoption of the Quality Charter for Mobility which constitutes the quality reference document for education and training stays abroad,
- Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council from 2008 on the establishment of the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning,
