List of EU cultural funding and European Funds and Grants for Culture
In May 2007, the Commission proposed an agenda for Culture founded on three common sets of objectives: cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue; culture as a catalyst for creativity; and culture as a key component in international relations.
This Agenda, prepared following a public on-line consultation, was approved by the cultural sector during the Lisbon Forum of September 2007. Next step taken was the adoption of the Work Plan for Culture 2008-2010 under the European Agenda for Culture. The Work Plan defined the initiatives to be carried out in the culture field at national and Community level. In focused on mobility of artists, access to culture, development of cultural statistics, promotion of cultural and creative industries, and implementation of the Unesco Convention on Cultural Expressions.
At the end of 2010 the European Commission launched the on-line consultation on a future Culture Programme (2014-2020).
The Community’s objectives in terms of audiovisual matters are European cultural diversity, the protection of minors, the promotion of media diversity, as well as increased European film production. In this context, the Union encourages cooperation between Member Sates and supports their action on the basis of Article 167 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (EU). The "Audiovisual Media Services" (AMS) Directive and the Media Programme are the two cornerstones of Community audiovisual policy.
Various aspects of culture are taken into account in the development of other European Union's priorities relating to regional development, employment and training, research and technological development, agriculture, the information society, tourism and business.
