Five million young Europeans are looking for a job. Many of them will miss opportunities because they lack the right qualifications or experience. Today, the European Commission launches Youth on the Move, a new flagship initiative aimed at helping these young people to gain the knowledge, skills and experience they need to make their first job a reality. Part of the EU’s new Europe 2020 strategy, Youth on the Move proposes 28 key actions aimed at making education and training more relevant to young people's needs and encouraging more of them to take advantage of EU grants to study or train in another country. This will increase young people's employability and access to the labour market.

A soaring flight delays has been found. In addition to the fatigue of travelers, this produces a considerable financial burden for the airlines companies: between 1.3 and 1.9 billion euros per year. The delays are due to a combination of factors: inadequate capabilities of air traffic control, adverse weather conditions, problems of airports or air operations. The Commission today approved the national programmes of the 27 Member States to improve the production and marketing of apiculture products for the period 2011-2013. The EU contribution to the financing of the programmes has increased by almost 25% compared to the previous period (2008-2010), from € 26 million to € 32 million per year.

The European Commissioner for Development Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and EU Commissioner for Energy, Gunther Oettinger, will launch the Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme (RECP) with the African Union during the High Level Meeting of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) in Vienna. A contribution of 5 million euros is expected to start the program. This collaborative program aims to contribute to policy objectives for Africa in terms of access to energy, energy security and renewable energy by 2020. It is also about bringing relevant renewable energy technologies to the market in Africa.
