The EIDHR is an EU funding instrument aimed at fostering the respect of human rights, democracy and the rule of laws in third countries. The instrument lays a great emphasis on empowering civil society organisations (CSOs) as a vector for democratic reforms and defense of human rights. The country-based Support Scheme (CBSS) is a component of the EIDHR designed to support CSOs in third countries, taking into account the characteristics and specific needs of each nations.

M-ERA.NET is an EU-funded network of 36 public funding organisations from 25 European countries dedicated to materials sciences and engineering. Under M-ERA.NET, these national public funding organisations coordinate their programme and pool a share of their resources to co-finance transnational projects. M-ERA.NET contributes to further integrating the European Research Area in the in materials sciences and engineering by operating as a single innovative and flexible network of funding organisations. If the European Commission finances the operating costs of the network, fundings for M-ERA.NET selected projects after calls for proposals is the sole responsibility of funding organizations and project participants.
