The Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) is a public-private partnership established between the European Commission and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) 1 to implement a Joint Technology Initiative on Bio-based Industries. It aims to bring together all relevant stakeholders to establish innovative bio-based industries as a competitive sector in Europe, ranging from primary production, large industry, SMEs, clusters, trade associations, academia to end-users. This call for proposals has been published as part the "Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research" strand of the Pillar "Societal Challenge" of the Horizon 2020 framework programme, with a view to achieving the objectives of the Bio-based Industries Joint Undertaking.

From the end of June 2014, the European Component and Systems for European Leadership Joint Undertaking ( ECSEl JU) will replace the previous ENIAC and ARTEMIS JUs respectively in the fields of nanoelectronics and embedded system. The ECSEL JU aims at strengthening industrial competitiveness in key technologies such as ICT, and more precisely in the field of electronic components and systems. ECSEL contributes also to the implementation of Horizon 2020, and in particular to the priority "industrial leadership". This call for proposals has been published as part of the "LEIT" strand of the "Industrial Leadership" Pillar of the Horizon 2020 programme, with a view to achieving the objectives of the ECSEL JU.

Clean Sky 2 is a Joint Technology Initiative (JTI)in aeronautics research. It follows on from and partly builds up on the results obtained by the previous Clean Sky JTI a established in 2008 under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) encouraging new research activities in the framework of a public-private partnership that allows to establish a long-term cooperation between the stakeholders of the European aeronautics. Clean Sky 2 aims to improve the environmental impact of European aeronautical technologies and secure the future international competitiveness of the European aeronautical industry. The European Digital Agenda aims to provide by 2020 100% of EU households 30 Mbps broadband and 50% of them at least 100 Mbps broadband. However, the development of broadband is slow, especially in rural and semi-urban areas and in economically disadvantaged areas environment. The initiative "Communities connected", which is part of this Digital Agenda, aims to help regions and cities to expand their broadband networks, and to create a community of stakeholders who seek to bridge the gap in the field of fast broadband.
