Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions are part of the European research and innovation programme H2020. The objective is to grant the research by funding researchers from everywhere.

Founded in 1996, the programme celebrates its 20 years of existence on tuesday November 8 2016.

The programme’s success has been growing ever since: its budget doubled between the programmations of 1994-2006 and 2014-2020, increasing from 3 230 million euro to 6 162 million euro. In total, more than 98 000 researchers have been funded by the Maria Skłodowska-Curie actions. Among them, 5 Nobel and one Oscar prizewinners, like the Dutch scientist Bernard Feringa and his chemistry Nobel Prize in 2016.

The success of this programme made it as a forward-looking sector for the European Union. Indeed, the European Union has never invested as much as currently in the research and the innovation in its programmation 2014-2020.
