How will be 2015 ?

The European Commission  introduces its Work Programme for 2015 with the top priorities for the new year.

2014 was the year of new legislative elections…

But, this time was different as the European Parliament regularly underlined. For the first time, citizen votes have contributed to the nomination of the Commission president. By this way, Jean-Claude Juncker has become the new President of EC, just after Manuel Barrosso.

2014 was the year of new legislative elections…

But, this time was different as the European Parliament regularly underlined. For the first time, citizen votes have contributed to the nomination of the Commission president. By this way, Jean-Claude Juncker has become the new President of EC, just after Manuel Barrosso.

The new Commission has taken office since the 1st of November and has yet published its first work programme. It is composed of 10 themes and 25 initiatives. Here are some of these top priorities for 2015:

*A New Boost for Jobs, Growth and Investment  - The 315 billion Investment Plan Promoting Labor Integration and Employability-
*A Connected Europe
- A Digital Single Market Package
*A Resilient Energy Union with a Forward-Looking Climate Change Policy
-  Strategic Framework for Energy Union
- A Multilateral Response to Climate Change
* A Deeper and Fairer Internal Market with a Strengthened Industrial Base and Internal Market Strategy
- Labor Mobility Package
- A Framework for Financial Institution Resolution
- An Aviation Package
* Stronger Global Actor
-  A Communication on European Neighborhood Policy
- - Post 2015 Sustainable Development Goals


Concerning the council of European Union, Italy gives the presidency to Latvia. This is the second time a Baltic country has ever taken this position after Estonia in 2004.

Other consequent change with the Baltic country: Lithuania has entered the Euro zone early January.

European Programmes



The essential change was last  year with the start of the ne programmation., corresponding to the strategy Europe 2020. Nevertheless one may observe some transformations.

* Structural Funds
New operational programmes for the structural funds (ERDF, ESF, and EARDF) will be concretely launched this current year. Every different OP, completed and officially valid, should be published between January and February by the referent managing authority.

* Intracommunitary programmes
HORIZON 2020 has been completed by new instruments. Innovfin for example aims to support innovative but risky projects ; Fast Track To Innovation can give the last push needed to market access.

Some strands of Erasmus Plus or Europe creative have been reviewed.

* External cooperation

A deepen cooperation with Asia is expected through the Swith Asia II programme or by the opportunities allowed by the EU-JAPAN Centre.

In July 2014, the EU launched the first phase of the Pan-African Programme, which will fund projects for the period 2014-2017, with a total allocation of €415 million.
