FP7
The 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development includes all the European research initiatives under one structure in order to strengthen efforts for employment, growth and competitiveness in Europe. It completes the CIP (Framework Programme for Competitiveness and Innovation), education and training programmes (LLP) and structural funds.
This is the main instrument for funding research in the EU at the European level, covering the period 2007-2013. The budget for seven years is 50.5 billion € and the Euratom budget for 2007-2012 is 2.7 billion;
FP7 supports research in selected priority sectors, with the objective that the EU maintains the top spot in those sectors.
