The Eurofunding work tools for the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation
Lucia Barbieri, Project Leader
Could you describe your activities and the European funding programmes you’re working with?
I work on the management of projects characterised by an international and European dimension. I’m implied on many fields: youth, intercultural dialogue and artistic renovation. For instance, I’m developing a project for a game on the internet, called ‘EUROMED GAME’, which goal is the information and the awareness-raising of young people about the European history, the different cultures and traditions in the Mediterranean region.
You subscribed to our Eurofunding services (internet and Eurofunding guide). Could you explain your choice?
I made contact with Welcomeurope in order to increase my knowledge on European fundings. I didn’t hesitate to subscribe to your services because the tools that Welcomeurope could offer were supposed to give me some new financing opportunities for my youth-activities. Therefore, I will be really interested when I will begin to use the mail alert service; it will be very useful to keep me up to date on European calls for proposals. Having all the calls in my mailbox could enlarge my funding possibilities toward new sectors too!
In your experience, what’s the added value for EUROMED programme?
The EUROMED programme is a really important European action that allows the integration and the intercultural exchange between Mediterranean countries. However, there is no real structured cooperation between the EU and the other neighbourhood countries in the Mediterranean Sea. I think that the EUROMED potential is not entirely developed and this because of a lack of truly political will. As result, the EU Neighbourhood countries in the Mediterranean Sea are not allowed to act as project leaders but they are just eligible as partners and participants in some European projects .
You are quite experienced in the European projects management. Have you got some advice to give to our readers?
I think that the biggest problem for people who are looking for European funds is to know how to get information. The European Commission websites are difficult to understand but the Welcomeurope services answered more specifically to my needs. It’s also very important to know the tricks and the criteria defined by the Commission Directorates.
