2010 European Solar Prize

Established in 1994, the annual EUROSOLAR European Solar Prize has since rewarded towns, municipal enterprises, associations or communities, individuals, engineers, architects and also organisations for outstanding service rendered to the use of renewable energy. The award is intended to spark and strengthen the public interest in renewable energy. Excellence and innovation in renewable energy application projects and initiatives will be rewarded in different categories. The recipients will be honoured at a ceremonious event.

The competition for the European Solar Prize is running in several European countries at the same time through the different EUROSOLAR section members. All winners of the European Solar Prize will be selected from the entrants for the national Solar Prize in each country and from the applications directly received at EUROSOLAR Germany.

The public competition and Solar Prize award ceremony are presented in different subject categories:
– Towns/municipalities, council districts, public utilities
– Industrial and commercial companies or farmers
– Owners or operators of renewable energy installations
– Local or regional associations/organisations
– Solar architecture and urban planning
– Media
– Transport and mobility
– Education and vocational training
– Special achievement prize for individual commitment

Essential to the application is an abstract, half a page, A4 paper size, in digital form (max. 1,500 characters), briefly portraying the particular characteristics of the project. The material entered should describe the projects or personal activities as detailed and as precisely as possible and show clearly that renewable energy plays an important role. Ideally it includes key figures (e.g. 40% of the consumption is generated from renewable sources). The projects must either already be accomplished or be concluded during 2010.

All entries and proposals must be received no later than 30th June 2010 (deadline). A panel of judges appointed by EUROSOLAR will select every single winner. The panel of judges may assign projects to another category than applied for, if necessary. EUROSOLAR disclaims all liability and responsibility for any material sent in, including the recognition of any other legal claims associated therewith, such as e.g. the return of submitted material.
