Employment, Social Affairs, Transport,-,

News The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) has an annual budget of €150 million euro for the period 2014-2020 and aims to help workers that lost their jobs because of globalisation and unexpected financial crisis.

According to Marianne Thyssen, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, the crisis has badly affected the road haulage sector and it is important to support lorry drivers in their efforts to find a new jobs. That's why the European Commission has proposed €5.1 million from EGF to help 2,132 former workers of MoryGlobal SAS in France. The aim is to help the workers to find new jobs by co-financing a "Dispositif d'Accompagnement Renforcé".

This proposal will go to the European Parliament and the EU's Council of Ministers for approval.
