Cooperation between the European Union and Japan
Commissioner in charge of research, Mr Busquin, met Mrs Toyama, Japanese Minister for education, sports and science in Brussels. They evoked a possible scientific collaboration between the Union and Japan.Mr Busquin and Mrs Toyama have discussed various subjects at their meeting held on 10 January. They particularly evoked the possibility of a future cooperation between the European Community and Japan in the scientific field, after having reviewed the scientific policy of both parties.
Europe-Japan collaboration is already present in various sectors: environment, geology, information technology... The action plan determined during the 10th EU-Japan Summit strengthens this collaboration and approaches the fight against poverty, economic and social development sustainable, biotechnology, etc.
Mr Busquin and Mrs Toyama wish tools to be set up accordingly.
