CORDIS launches new service for the coordination of FP7 research activities
A new service has been launched by the Community Research and Development Information Service.A new service has been launched by CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, as part of the effort to coordinate Europe's extensive research activities. This follows a Commission stakeholder consultation that revealed strong support for more coordination of national research programmes from all categories of contributor.
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) will unequivocally support the strengthening of the European Research Area (ERA), with ERA-NETs (for the coordination of national research programmes), and by providing additional financial support for the reinvigoration of the ERA.
The Coordination homepage and 'About Coordination' offers full details of the instruments available for the plan's implementation, including:
- ERA-NETs. In cases with high European added value, the ERA-NET Plus initiative provides additional financial support;
- Article 169 - provides a legal basis for the European Community to support the integration of national research programmes;
- JTIs - legal entities involving public-private partnerships in relevant industrial research and development fields;
- Grants .
The 'Get support' page provides links to National Contact Points (NCPs) in 27 EU Member States, plus the states associated to the Framework Programme. This valuable service provides personalised support on the spot in the proposer's own language. Furthermore, a Pre-Proposal Check (PPC) service is available to those wishing to submit an ERA-NET or ERA-NET Plus action. This will assess the eligibility of the proposal and its consortia.
The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section addresses common queries on the Coordination of Research Activities through ERA-NET, Article 169 and JTIs. Providing personalised responses for additional queries, and replacing the traditional e-mail Help Desk, an FP7 enquiry service will give prompt responses by a relevant expert.
A Library will link to an array of publications relevant for the Coordination service. A separate 'Useful Links' page supplies all interested actors with access to Erawatch and Technology Platforms. There is also a special Nordic Council link in the five Nordic languages and English, giving details of official cooperation in the Nordic region.
