The EU Troika is due to meet with presidents and foreign ministers of the three South Caucasus states on 16-20 July during a visit to the region led by Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bild.A press release from the EU Presidency said the trip would include a field visit to the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia.
The extension of the Mission’s mandate will be on the agenda of the EU foreign ministers’ meeting in late July.
The South Caucasus is an area of strategic importance to the EU, the press release notes, adding: “the Eastern Partnership means new opportunities to contribute to stability and reform in the three countries.”
