The European Convention: time to take stock

At this crucial point in the work of the European Convention, its chairman, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, feels that the Convention should hold a direct dialogue with the citizens of Europe. He therefore extends an invitation to chat on the Internet on 28 October 2002. You will be given the opportunity to put forward your points of view and to raise questions on the institutional and legal structures of the European Union. According to its programme, the European Convention will proceed in the autumn to weigh up the various factors and options involved in a reorganisation of Europe. The Convention is about to start considering the shape of a future constitutional treaty for Europe.

The lines, in the 11 official languages of the European Union, will be open from 20.00 to 21.30 CET. To allow for as many questions and answers as possible, questions must be brief, with a maximum of 265 characters, i.e. three lines. A compilation of all questions and answers will be published on the site shortly after the chat.

For further practical information on how to take part in the chat, please see our "Joining the chat" page.

See the site http://european-convention.eu.int/ for more information on the European Convention.
