Hamburg's ‘Train of Ideas’

Hamburg, European Green Capital in 2011, will send a train through Europe for the promotion of sustainable initiatives for citiesThe train aims to show how cities can be environmentally friendly and offer a high quality of life to its citizens. It will address 18 European cities, all of them are members of EUROCITIES.

An onboard exhibition showcasing Hamburg’s best sustainable practices and projects from other cities, will bring ideas all around Europe. Themes covered are urban development and living, mobility, energy and climate protection, nature and city greenery, resource protection, economy and consumption.

The "Train of Ideas" was a decisive factor for the jury in Hamburg’s European Green Capital 2011 application. Departing from Hamburg on 15 April 2011, the train will visit: Copenhagen, Malmo, Gothenburg, Oslo, Tallinn, Riga, Warsaw, Vienna, Munich, Zurich, Marseille, Barcelona, Nantes, Paris, Brussels, Antwerp and Amsterdam.
