Horizon 2020 - €386 million for smart, green and integrated transport in 2019
Mr. Frédéric Sgarbi of DG JRC of the European Commission has presented the calls for proposals of the Smart, Green, and Integrated Transport Programme under Horizon 2020 for 2019 at a plenary session held on 28 September 2018.
His comments are based on the observation that "the future is based on automated driving and digitalization". Thus, he presented the calls for proposals and reminded the guidelines that should accompany them.
Regarding the theme of Transport, Mr. Sgarbi affirms that calls must be virtual while bringing together subjects in different disciplines and fields that should converge around a future resistant to climate change, thanks to a digitized industry and services.
For the new generation of batteries, a substantial budget will be available (€114 million). It will be divided into two: the first financial envelope of €70 million will be devoted to four topics related to transport; the second envelope of €44 million will be dedicated to three topics related to energy issues.
According to international cooperation, three initiatives will be carried out by INCP Logistics in the fields of aeronautics and logistics. Moreover, Mr. Sgarbi revealed that international cooperation is not a criterion of eligibility (it is encouraged, but not obligatory).
Thereby, with a budget of €386.01 million for 2019, smart transport in an ecological and energy transition is, therefore, a major dimension of European policies for the coming year.
