Innovation is the basis for success in 2007-2013 Cohesion policy

News Regional policy Commissioner visited the Polish region of Opolskie where she took part in the conference "Experience of the 2004-2006 programming period in Opolskie and its relevance to 2007-2013 period". Danuta Hübner highlighted the need to make the best of the new Cohesion policy to modernise EU's regions and noted: "One of main preconditions for growth and job creation is to ensure that the region is business-supportive and innovation-friendly".

The overall financial allocation for the operational programmes in Poland for 2007-2013 as proposed in the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) sent to the European Commission is € 67.28 billion, in current prices. The Regional Operational Programmes (ROP) for the sixteen Voivodships have a total planned allocation of € 15.99 billion. Opolskie will be receiving €427 million, i.e. € 408 per capita for the whole period.
