The new EU-US Atlantis programme: paving the way for innovative transatlantic university degrees

The European Commission, jointly with American authorities, has launched 14 new transatlantic cooperation projects. On the whole, the Commission will invest 3.8 million euros in these projects, and the American authorities a similar amount. The aim of these projects is to promote transatlantic cooperation in higher education.The Commission chose 14 projects out of 56 funding requests. These projects are:
- 8 transatlantic joint diplomas
- 2 mobility project on the Erasmus model
- 4 strategic measures to improve transatlantic cooperation.


The selected projects concerns 32 European universities from 12 member states and 22 American ones. These funding will support the academic exchanges of 380 students.


Since this programme was launched, in 1995, 136 projects have been financed, concerning nearly 400 universities and more than 4000 students.
