Prior information notice: organising and managing the European ICT Prize

The Commission's Information Society and Media DG has given prior information of a call for tenders to organise and manage the European Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Prize.
The objective of the European ICT Prize, which will be awarded annually by the European Commission, is to promote European innovation and entrepreneurship in ICT by providing public recognition to companies or other organisations that excel in turning technology and research results into products for the market.

The European ICT Prize will enhance the impact of the Commission's research programmes in the field of information and communication technologies by promoting excellence in ICT technologies, by accelerating their take-up and by broadening their fields of application. It will reinforce the competitiveness of European industry, thereby contributing to growth and employment, and provide greater benefits for all European citizens.

Candidates for the prize must demonstrate the production of market-ready or near-market products or services based on innovative ICT research or applications . Candidates will be judged by independent experts in complete objectivity according to pre-announced evaluation criteria. Prize winners will receive monetary prizes and public recognition through widespread promotion and publicity.
