News On Monday 14 December, the Digital Europe programme, aimed at accelerating the deployment of digital technologies such as AI, high-performance computing and data platforms, was the subject of an agreement between the European Parliament and the Council deciding on €7.6 billion in funding for the period 2021-2027.

The programme will finance the development of European high-performance computing and data processing capacities (€2.2 billion), and will increase the accessibility and use of high-performance computing in the fields of public health, particularly for SMEs.
It will strengthen and support testing and experimentation in artificial intelligence in areas such as health and mobility, and encourage Member States to cooperate, with the ambition of establishing a European Data Area and increasing the use of artificial intelligence in businesses and public administrations (€2 billion).
1.6bn will also be dedicated to cybersecurity, to strengthen coordination between Member States, increase European capabilities and support the deployment of capabilities across the economy, through initiatives such as the EU Cyber Security Network and Competence Centre.
