The European commission has adopted a Communications on the results of the Marco Polo Programme for the 2003-2013 period.The Marco Polo programme finance commercial projects that stimulate competitiveness of combined transport as against exclusively road transport. In the next programming period (2014-2020), it will be replaced by the Connecting Europe Facility.

The project 'Conéctate a la Red Natura - Natura 2000: connecting people with biodiversity' conducted under the LIFE + programme, and more particularly within the framework of the its information and communication component has enabled the establishment of a European day for Natura 2000.Natura 2000 is an ecological network of protected natural, terrestrial and marine areas in the territory of the European Union, that are identified for the rarity or fragility of wild animal and plant species and their habitats.

The 66th edition of the Cannes Film Festival shows the success of the MEDIA programme. Thirteen movies supported by this programme are screened during the festival and 7 of them are in the official competition for the famous Palme d'Or.The movie "Le Passé" by Asghar Farhadi is one of them. He won last year's MEDIA award, which recognizes the best new film project with a high potential for success, and that can therefore benefit from the European MEDIA program for cinema.The MEDIA prize will be awarded this year on May 19 by the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Androulla Vassiliou, to the Danish director Thomas Vinterberg for his new film project : Kollektivet (The Commune)

The Commission has just launched a call for proposals for eco-innovation under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme, for a total amount of EUR 31.5 million.Applications may be submitted by companies proposing proposals for bringing novel environmental solutions to the market until 5 September 2013. The concerned areas are: material recycling; water; sustainable building products; green business; the food and drink sector.

It concludes that more than  eight in ten people involved claims that the initiative have positive and lasting impacts on them and consider that that they would have not achieve the same results without European support.

The awarded SMEs are from Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and United Kingdom.The prize was awarded in Dublin yesterday and reward initiatives that provide patients with the appropriate tools to enable them to take control of their health, which should come in support of health and care professionals.

To reach an agreement on the multi-annual financial framework 2014-2020, the Irish Deputy Prime Minister (Tanaiste) and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eamon Gilmore, goes to Brussels to begin final negotiations and try to come to an agreement with the European Parliament by the end of the Irish Presidency on the proposal of 960 billion EU budget for 2014-2020 period.

The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneur Programme is a programme designed to support mobility periods abroad for young entrepreneurs, with a view to improving their skills and fostering the cross-border transfer of knowledge between the SMEs as well as gain valuable skills and experience in a business in another country participating in the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP).Since 2009, this programme has already benefits for 1 600 exchanges and help create or expanded 3 200 businesses.
