The European Commission has adopted a new Interreg-IPA cross border programme for the border regions of Croatia and Serbia. 4 Croatian regions and 5 Serbian districts will be covered by the Interreg IPA CBC Croatia-Serbia programme. €34 million out of the €40 million comprised in the programme derive from the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance.

On 28 July 2015, the European Commission launched its strategy for the Alpine region. This is the fourth EU macro-regional strategy, following the strategies for the Baltic Sea region, the Danube region and the Adriatic and Ionian region. It is aimed at enhancing cooperation between the regions of this area in several fields, mainly in relation with the Structural and investment funds.

The European Commission adopted on Wednesday 22 July the last measures for the European Fund for Strategic Investments. It will be operational from the beginning of autumn 2015, respecting the timetable set by the President of the European Commission, Jean- Claude Juncker, for the implementation of the Investment Plan for Europe. The Investment Plan for Europe or Juncker Plan aims to revive investment in strategic projects around Europe by mobilizing 315 billion euro for the period 2015-2017.

The Commission’s proposal to invest €150 million to key trans-European energy infrastructure projects has been apprroved by the Member States on 14 July 2015. 20 projects have been selected under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – Energy. This instrument aims at supporting projects of common interest within the framework of the trans-European networks policy in the sector of Energy.

European Commission unveiled its investment plan in the field of transport : 13.1 billion euro will be invested in 276 transport projects selected under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The CEF-Transport  is aimed at providing grants for projects of common interest within the framework of the trans-European networks policy in the sector of Transport.

On Wednesday 24 June, MEPs approved, with a few modifications, the rules of the investment plan for Europe which was announced in November 2014 by the new European Commission. The Investment Plan for Europe aims to revive investment in strategic projects around Europe by mobilizing 315 billion euro for the period 2015-2017.

On the 22nd and 23rd June, 12 Transport Ministers of the European Union, along with CEOs and more than 1000 transport stakeholders join in Riga to attend the transport conference on Trans-European Transport networks (TEn-T), organised by the European Commission. In the TEN-T framework,  grants are provided for projects of common interest in the sector of Transport, in order to close the gaps between Member States’ transport networks.
