The region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur takes up the challenge of innovation
The European Commissionner of the regional policy, Mrs. Danuta Hübner, is in visit in Marseilles on March 5. She has visited two poles of competitiveness which symbolize the dynamism of the area in the field of the innovation and which are supported financially by the European Union. La région PACA a très bien su tirer parti du soutien apporté par la politique de cohésion de l'Union européenne et elle a pu réaliser d'importantes avancées dans la mise en place d'une infrastructure propice au développement.
Au cours de la prochaine période de programmation 2007-2013, la politique de cohésion va investir en Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur un total de 587 millions d'euros dont au minimum 75% devraient se concentrer sur les objectifs de la stratégie de Lisbonne pour la croissance et l'emploi.
Pour la première fois, la région PACA aura la charge d'assurer la responsabilité de l'autorité de gestion du programme de coopération transnationale "Espace Méditerranée", communément appelé "Programme MED" auquel participent pas moins de neuf Etats membres: Chypre, Espagne, France, Grèce, Italie, Malte, Portugal, Royaume-Uni et la Slovénie. L'Union européenne contribuera à ce programme à hauteur de 193 millions d'euros.
