To facilitate such cooperation, the EC and MED-EMIP will have an observer member in the meetings of the ‘Council of Arab Ministers for Electricity’. During a workshop held in Tripoli, Libya, participants also agreed to work towards developing energy policies for Arab countries that can be collectively adopted, taking into consideration local conditions in each country. The Mediterranean Solar Plan is one of the six priority projects of the new Union for the Mediterranean. The EU-funded MED-EMIP project aims at enhancing the integration of the energy markets in the Euro-Med region and promoting improved security and sustainability. It supports the transfer of knowledge on renewable energy related issues, encouraging its use in the Mediterranean Partner Countries.
