European subsidies Transport
European transport policy aims to reconcile the growing mobility needs of citizens with the requirements of sustainable development. In this regard, it is also related to the development of the internal market and the opening up of competition, to conditions for innovation and to the integration of transport networks. The issue of user safety and protection is also crucial for the transport sector.
Action at present in the fields of energy and transport is based on two Commission reference documents: The Green Paper “Towards a new culture for urban mobility”, and the White Paper “European transport policy for 2010:Time to decide”. They reflect a marked change in policy aimed at speeding up the reforms needed, preparing for enlargement and slanting European policies towards citizens.
2005 was a pivotal year when stock was taken of the action over the last five years and future avenues of approach were identified.

European grant Grants in the field of sustainable use of energy in transport
Up to 75% of the eligible costs of the project. Investment in hardware, or in equipment for demonstration purposes, is not eligible for support under the programme.
Grants in the frame of the Trans-European Networks for transport
Studies : Maximum 50% of the eligible costs. Works: max. 10% (priority projects) ou max. 30% (projects in cross-border sections) of the total construction costs.
Grants to European cities that run a radical integrated urban transport policy
Maximum rates vary between 50% and 100% of the eligible project's costs according to the activity and to the legal statutes of the beneficiary.
Loans and guarantees for social investment projects helping regions hit by natural or ecological disasters
Up to 50% of the total project costs and more for assistance projects.
European network developing cooperation between SMEs, research centres and universities for industrial innovation
Support between maximum 35% for research and 45% for development phase projects.
