The European Union is funding 31 new environment projects worth all in all 177 million euro through its Horizon 2020 programme.


The European Commission has selected 31 projects from among 625 proposals submitted for the 2015 two-stage calls for proposal. These projects the European Commission has awarded grants to will tackle water innovation, waste recycling, earth observation, climate action or natural resources. All in all, more than 550 organisations from 48 different countries, including 25 EU Member States, will be involved in the new projects.

The projects will run for three to four years and range from deploying environmental living labs across Europe for improving air quality in cities to developing waste management strategies for tourist cities.
