The EU-funded project will contribute to protecting the environment by, among other things, limiting the infiltration of wastewater into the soil, allowing 19,050 people to benefit for the first time from continued access to quality drinking water.
The EU’s Cohesion Fund is investing 57.4 million euro in water distribution, management and treatment infrastructure in Caraş County, in the west of the country.
The project includes, among other things, the construction or renovation of more than 120 km of drinking water distribution network, the rehabilitation of 20 reservoirs and the extension of the sewer network over more than 160 km.
The work is expected to be completed in the summer of 2018.
