Call for participation of regional authorities to the European week of regions and cities

The 14th edition of the European week of regions and cities organized by the Committee of Regions and the European Commission through DG REGIO (for regional end urban development) will take place from the 10th to the 13th of October 2016.

The application deadline for regional authorities wishing to organize a workshop is the 1st of April 2016.

The overall slogan this year is “Regions and cities for sustainable and inclusive growth”, seminars to be organised in this edition will cover the following topics :

– Sustained and sustainable economic growth 
– Inclusive economic growth 
– Making ESI Funds simpler 

During the launch meeting of this year’s edition, organisers have insisted on their decision to concentrate on the implementation of the EU Cohesion policy for 2014-2020 and propose “strategic” seminars linked to the mid-term review of the Multiannual finacial framework expected for the end of 2016 and the publication in 2017 of the 7th Report on Economic, Social and Territorail Cohesion.

Regional representation offices in Brussels can participate to the event by forming consortia with their counterparts ( 5 to 12 partners from at least 4 member states) in order organise a seminar in Brussels during the European week of Regions and Cities. DG REGIO and the Committee of Regions will organise around thirty seminars each which will amonut to almost a hundred seminars. Regional authorities that wish to participate will have to organise a local event linked to the topics of the European week of Regions and Cities in their region between September and November 2016.
