Funds for: promoting a meaningful and structured participation of CSOs in domestic policies of Nigeria to support the attainment of the SDGs

Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* To support the attainment of the sustainable development goals, especially: climate change; youth and, crisis and fragility

Priorities
* Lot 1 – Climate Change: to tackle climate change and supporting the implementation of the Paris Agreement
* Lot 2 – Youth, Crisis and Fragility: ensuring that the youth get involved in democratic governance and development efforts

Amongst financed actions
* Studies, mapping, research or documentaries on the local context, the project environment, the sector of intervention, identified needs and problems, expected results and impact;
* Advocacy, monitoring and development of strategies by civil society organisations to push for implementation of SDG commitments in areas covered by this call;
* Policy dialogues, consultations and facilitation;
* Systematic monitoring and collection of data and research-based advocacy;
* Transfers of know-how and experience;
* Promotion of best practices and lessons learned;
* Collaborations and information sharing between civil society organizations and local authorities, and innovative approaches to strengthen such;
* Actions on public information, sensitisation, awareness-raising, engagement, advocacy and mobilization;
* Organisation of seminars, conferences (only when the outcomes of these events will be needed and used for the implementation of the action);
* Civil society and local authorities’ coordination;
* Training, educational activities and capacity development for civil society and local authorities on the implementation of the SDGs covered by this call

Additional information
* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 30 months 

* Eligibility:
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Civil society organisations, including non-governmental non-profit organisations and community-based organisations, and private sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks and coalitions thereof at local, national, regional and international level;
– Be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, public sector operator or local authority;
– Be established in Nigeria or a Member State of the European Union;
– Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant (s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary;
– Have a minimum of 2 years documented experience;
– Have never been indicted or summoned as defendant in a criminal proceeding, or evicted, fined for violation of the law (excluding minor traffic violations). This applies to both the legal entity and person/s with powers of representation;
– International organisations are international public-sector organisations set up by intergovernmental agreements as well as specialised agencies set up by them; the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are also recognised as international organisations;
– To be determined on the basis of the organisation’s statutes, which should demonstrate that it has been established by an instrument governed by the national law of the country concerned and that its head office is located in an eligible country. In this respect, any legal entity whose statutes have been established in another country cannot be considered an eligible local organisation, even if the statutes are registered locally or a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ has been concluded
