Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* Promote a meaningful and structured participation of CSOs in domestic policies of partner countries;
* Increase the participation of CSOs in tackling climate change and mitigating its adverse effects

Priorities
* Promote forestry and soil and water conservation activities in communities surrounding protected areas to mitigate the impacts of climate change on the lives of community members (making communities more resilient)

Among financed actions
* Support Forest Conservation measures to increase resource base in communities (ex: tree planting, management of natural regenerations, rehabilitation of degraded communal forest areas, setting aside individual and communal forest areas; etc…);
* Support communities around National Parks and wildlife reserves to identify forest based enterprises and products according to local resources and potential markets;
* Link enterprises identified to markets as to contribute to increased incomes of communities around National Parks and wildlife reserves and reduce negative coping mechanisms such as poaching and illegal wildlife crime;
* Support Soil and Water Conservation measures to help mitigate the effects of climate change on farming and communities (ex: giant bamboo planting, hedge rolls of nitrogen fixing trees or other multipurpose trees, trees on farm, etc…);
* Supporting measures to improve living conditions of communities around National Parks and wildlife reserves and their cohabitation with wildlife (ex. boreholes, fencing…)

Additional information
* This is an open call for proposals

* Initial duration of the project: between 24 and 36 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Be a Civil Society Organisation or an Association of CSOs;
– Be established in a Member State of the European Union, in a country of the European Economic Area, in Malawi or in another EU partner countries

– Actions must take place in areas surrounding the Malawian National Parks and wildlife reserves, where livelihoods of the communities are strongly interlinked with the reserves ecosystems and wildlife. Proposed actions must target a minimum of two out of the following three protected areas: 
1. Lengwe National Park 
2. Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve and 
3. Kasungu National Park
