Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* To improve the socio-economic situation and reduce the isolation of the Bolama-Bijagós region of Guinea-Bissau by promoting human rights and strengthening the role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the region as actors for development and governance;
* To increase the engagement and participation of CSOs in the Bolama-Bijagos region in local socio-economic development, particularly with regard to access to basic social services and opportunities for production and income generation;
* To improve the protection and recognition of human rights in the Bolama-Bijagós region, including by promoting economic and social rights through access to basic social services

Priorities
* Lot 1: Support to CSOs
– Facilitate the mobility of people and goods in the region;
– Promote the economic development of the region: production and income generation systems, vocational training;
– Promote access to basic social services: health; water and sanitation; education
* Lot 2: Promotion of human rights (EIDHR)
– Promote access to basic social services: health; water and sanitation; education

Among financed actions
* Creation of functional transport services, or organization of existing transport services: establishment of operating rules, timetables, routes, weather forecasting capacities, etc. to facilitate the mobility of people and the movement of goods;
* Regulation, monitoring and/or implementation of improvements in transport safety standards, in association with national (local and central) authorities;
* Promotion of forms of organization of transport providers, under associative models to promote social economy or other;
* Support for socio-economic initiatives aimed at generating income and creating jobs through the development of value chains;
* Support for capacity building for local conservation and processing of products;
* Rehabilitation, construction and management of drinkable water access points (fountains, wells, boreholes…) and distribution points (fountains);
* Improvement of basic hygiene and sanitation conditions, including rehabilitation and construction of latrines, as well as improving hygiene awareness

* This call for proposals is an open call for proposals

* Initial duration of the action: between 36 and 60 months

* Eligibility:
– Be a legal person;
– Be a non-profit-making entity;
– Be a civil society organization (CSO) or a network/association of CSOs, established at the time of publication of the call, in accordance with the legislation in force in Guinea-Bissau or in the eligible countries
– Lot 1 :
– Be established:
> In Guinea-Bissau;
> In the European Economic Area;
> In a country eligible for the European Neighbourhood Instrument, including the Russian Federation;
> In a developing country or territory on the list of recipients of official development assistance, and overseas countries and territories;
> In a country eligible for the European Development Fund
– Lot 2 :
> Be established in any country, without prejudice to the limitations inherent in the nature and objectives of the action

– Lead applicants act jointly with co-applicants as follows:
> Partnerships must include Guinea-Bissau CSOs/CSO networks;
> Local authorities may be entities associated with the action

 – The action must take place in the administrative region of Bolama-Bijagós (Guinea-Bissau)
