Priorities and funded actions:

– Enable and enhance Civil Society Organisations to engage as efficient and proactive actors of governance and development in Kenya

* Lot 1 Gender equality:
– To support the work of CSOs in addressing the needs of vulnerable and marginalised groups, including women and youth, with a particular focus on supporting the empowerment of these groups to claim their rights;
– To increase CSO capacities in order to strengthen women’s participation in decision-making;
– To increase the capacities of CSOs in addressing Gender Based Violence and harmful practices and mitigating its adverse effects

* Lot 2: Accountability of Public Institutions:
– To promote effective and transparent Public Participation by National and County Governments as enshrined in the Kenya Constitution 2010 and existing legal frameworks;
– To support fiscal and public finance management reforms and their implementation as a basis for the state to provide high-quality public services for social equity;
– To improve the capacity of public administrations to provide public services in an efficient, transparent and accountable manner

Among financed actions
* Lot 1:
– To strengthen the capacity of business organisations, chambers of commerce and trade unions to represent, lobby and advocate for women’s economic interests, job opportunities and working conditions;
– To exchange of best practices among microfinance institutions to counter lending barriers for women and promote gender-sensitive solutions to credit, including tailoring financial products to the needs of women entrepreneurs in their respective economic sectors;
– To support on the lobbying of the 2/3rds gender rule and enhance the gender agenda in Parliament

* Lot 2:
– To promote interaction between State and Non-State Actors in the efficient and transparent allocation and use of resources at National and/or County Level;
– To support and Equip counties with capacities to disseminate reliable, updated information on county priorities, plans, budgets, expenditures, projects and relevant implementation reports;
– Equip National & County Authorities to manage structured consultation processes on PFM laws, plans, and budgets, including outreach to vulnerable and marginalized groups;
– To promote and capacity build Citizen forums and other organised groupings for engagement with National or County Authorities by establishing feedback mechanisms where citizens can register questions complaints or compliments, without fear of reprisal

Additional information
* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 48 months

* Eligibility:
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Be a Civil Society Organisation, an Association of CSOs, or a National independent Institution under the condition that the proposed initiatives to be carried out by it are for the benefit of the CSO’s targeted by this call;
– Be established in Kenya or in other EU partner countries or the EU Member States

– Where the lead applicant is not established in Kenya, it must act with minimum one co-applicant established in Kenya

– Actions must take place in Kenya
