Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* To promote economic, local, sustainable and inclusive development in and around the adjoining area;
* To finance investments in socio-economic development projects in the adjacent area and its surroundings;
* To comply with the principles set out in the sustainable development goals, in particular SDGs 5 and 16

Priority
* To achieve stable and sustainable socio-economic development of local communities in order to ensure stability and peace in the region in the medium and long term

Among the actions financed
* Activities that encourage and strengthen:
> mechanisms and/or processes for negotiation and conflict resolution;
> civil society networks to improve their participation in priority and outstanding issues on the political agenda in areas such as rural development, environment, economic and social activities, agrarian affairs, water, food security
* Technical assistance, exchanges, training and other activities that improve the effective participation of civil society and networks of organizations in the process of political dialogue on issues of local interest, including the definition of strategies and policies for the sustainable development of the region, information production and the democratization of communication;
* Studies, research, training, exchanges of experience, publications, communication campaigns and others to develop and/or strengthen the capacities of civil society in the processes of monitoring and follow-up of investments and implementation of public policies, in key sectors such as food security, environmental management and protection, trade, decent employment and labour protection and other relevant sectors of local interest;
* Studies, pilot projects, exchanges of experience to promote mechanisms and networks for integral attention, socio-territorial reintegration, food security and sovereignty, integral attention, in rural and urban areas, in actions such as:
> social protection and support;
> Culture and art, as a vehicle for social cohesion and violence prevention, contribute to the empowerment of marginalized groups, social peace and the personal development of these groups
* Studies, pilot projects, technical assistance, targeted investments to generate or consolidate production models in line with the principles set out in ODS that promote responsible, inclusive and sustainable economic growth;
* Studies, pilot projects, technical assistance, targeted investments in interventions that have an effective impact on improving resilience and on reduction/mitigation and/or adaptation to climate change

Additional information
* This call for proposals is an open call for proposals

* Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 36 months

* Eligibility:
– Be a civil society organization or network of CSOs;
– Be a local authority (municipality) and/or trade unions and/or networks of municipalities;
– Be a legal entity;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Be established for at least 3 years and have carried out regular actions in the fields of the call for proposals for at least three years before the date of submission of the application;
– Be established in a Member State of the European Union and/or Guatemala or a Central American country and in all countries mentioned in Regulation (EU) No 233/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2014 establishing a financing instrument for development cooperation (DCI) for the period 2014-2020;

– The lead applicant may act individually or with the co-applicants;

– The projects will be implemented in the adjacent area between Guatemala and Belize and their respective neighbourhoods
