Funds for: Improving nutritional indicators among the Chadian population

Priorities and funded actions:

* Contribute to the improvement of nutritional indicators among the Chadian population, especially women and children;
* Provide quality and equitable public health services and care to the population, under the leadership of the Ministry of Public Health at the district level

* Progressive implementation of the Minimum Activity Package (MAP) in the targeted health districts and consolidation of its functioning;
* Improvement of the quality of the service offer;
* Establishment of a community health service delivery network at the most peripheral level of the health system;
* Capacity building of national health workers involved in service delivery;
* Promotion of behavioural change towards healthy and development-friendly practices;
* Improvement of the nutritional status of Pregnant and Nursing Women (PNW) and children under 5 years of age

Among financed actions
* Assess gaps within existing health centres (MAP and improvement targets);
* Explore and implement alternative service delivery mechanisms such as integrated outreach and community networks;
* Ensure full and appropriate staffing of health centres with an emphasis on female professional service providers and women Community Health Agents (CHAs);
* Implement national standards for the provision of health care;
* Organize the training of Community Health Workers, training supervision and networking;
* Proceed to the payment of salaries/compensations of the CHAs;
* Evaluate the gaps in preparation, knowledge, and the capacity of staff assigned to health centres;
* Provide training for health workers at the clinical and community level, including initial and regular refresher training for CHAs;
* Revitalise women’s groups for behaviour change;
* Inform, educate and communicate on the different topics related to good hygiene practices, nutrition, breastfeeding, prevention of childhood diseases;
* Implement any clinical and prevention activities included in the MAP and the Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Strategy;

* This is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only the short notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the project: between 54 and 60 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person;
– Be a non-profit-making entity;
– Be a non-governmental organization;
– Be established in an EU or ACP Member State and other eligible nationalities (including South Sudan) in accordance with Articles 20 and 22 of Annex IV of the Cotonou Agreement (revised in 2010);
– The lead applicant may act either individually or with one or more co-applicants
