Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* To strengthen the capacity and participation levels of Civil Society in the development and implementation of various sectors with the Government of Tonga;
* To address the limited capacities of Civil Society Organisations and limited linkages between CSOs and Government in development cooperation;
* To enhance and strengthen capacity of civil society organisations to engage competently and constructively with the Government of Tonga in the development and implementation of the EU Development grant programmes

Priorities
* Lot 1: To strengthen CSO’s capacity to effectively engage with government in policy dialogue and governance;
* Lot 2: To support CSO’s, Community and Community Based Organizations to promote/build awareness on renewable energy and energy efficiency in the energy sector;
* Lot 3: To support CSO’s role in enhancing gender equality in development;
* Lot 4: To support CSO’s role in addressing Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs);
* Lot 5: To support CSO in youth empowering and development programs
 
Among financed actions
* Lot 1:

– Capacity Building of the individual CSO’s;

– Support engagement of CSOs with Government and national agencies on the facilitation of specific thematic advocacy (such as sectorial strategies) and policy engagement oriented activities and good governance
 
* Lot 2:
– Awareness program(s) and educational activities on renewable energy and energy efficiency
– Capacity building activities to effectively manage energy resources in Tonga
 
* Lot 3:
– Actions promoting awareness and educational activities among the public and in schools on domestic violence, recognition of harassments and its impact on families and the development of the society
– Actions promoting awareness that aim to ‘change’ attitudes and mind-sets that result in the behaviours that legitimise violence against women in Tonga
– Initiatives for economic empowerment of women and girls
 
* Lot 4:
– Awareness raising and educational initiatives on empowering women and young people
as key actors for improving nutrition for themselves and families
– Awareness raising initiatives in the implementation of nutrition related programmes for
vulnerable households
 
* Lot 5:
– Capacities initiatives of youth empowerment and leadership through strengthening of youth councils, youth leaders and young people
– Actions that promote young people’s potential as agents of change
 
Additional information
* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated
 
* Initial duration of the action: between 12 and 24 months
 
* Eligibility:
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Be a non-governmental organisation, a public sector operator, a local authority or an international (inter-governmental) organisation;
– The lead applicant must be established in the Kingdom of Tonga;
– The co-applicant must be established in either the Kingdom of Tonga or partner countries listed in Appendix 1
 
– Actions must take place in Tonga
