Objectives
* Contribute to improve socioeconomic rights of vulnerable groups in South Africa

Priorities

* Support civil society organisations (CSO) working with vulnerable groups, at risk of workplace or labour related discrimination and/or poor labour conditions within the formal or the informal sector;
* Support CSO working on Racism, Racial discrimination, Xenophobia and related intolerance;
* Contribute to mainstream gender and achieve the objectives of gender equality and girls’ and women’s empowerment;
* Include conflict sensitivity and environmental issues whenever relevant

Among financed actions

* Advocacy, lobbying and development of strategies by civil society organisations to push for legal reform and to influence policy-making;
* Human rights training, legal counselling, psychosocial, medical, legal and safety assistance including (digital safety) for people whose human rights were violated;
* Supporting the collection of appropriate information, including statistical and research data, to enable governments to formulate and implement policies;
* Capacity-building through trainings of civil society organisations active in the human rights/democracy field and of human rights defenders;
* Awareness-raising and communication campaigns to inform on specific democracy/human rights issues;
* Promoting inclusive and strategic partnerships, networking and cooperation with CSOs and other relevant stakeholders or among CSOs;
* Organisation of exchange and dissemination of best practices;
* Sub-granting to local registered and non-registered civil society organisations and capacity building to civil society organisations or initiatives working on Human Rights issues;
* Internal capacity building activities of its staff, its co-applicant(s) and its affiliate

Additional information
* This call proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the project: between 12 and 36 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation;
– When the lead applicant is not South African, it must act with at least one South African co-applicant
