Grants to support local-based activities, mainly by NGOs in the fields of Human rights, democratisation and conflict prevention.
Priorities and funded actions:
-To reduce the use of torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment and punishment across the country ;
-To diminish gender-based violence, including in particular domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriages and bride kidnapping practice
Among financed actions
– Preventing, investigating, monitoring (including court monitoring) and following-up actions related to gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriages and bride kidnapping practice, in both urban and rural areas ;
– Strengthening capacity of human rights and civil society organisations to implement activities related to the above listed priorities, where appropriate jointly with state authorities in charge of preventing gender based violence and use of torture ;
– Raising legal awareness of women and girls about their rights vis-a-vis domestic violence, bride kidnapping and forced marriages and rights of persons victims of torture through information and advocacy campaigns, provision of free legal aid
