The global objective of this call for proposals is to promote gender equality and empowerment of women in Paraguay.

Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
– Prevent and fight violence against women and young girls.
– Enhance the participation and political representation of women, particularly concentrating on the general election of 2018.

Priorities
LOT 1 : Prevent and fight violence against women and young girls
– Prevent and fight violence against women and young girls;
– Promote the rights and protection of the victims of violence;
– Promote access to support services for victims of violence, particularly through alliances with specialised public entities at national and local level;
– Influence the political, normative and judicial framework for the prevention and fight against violence made to women.
LOT 2 : Enhance the participation and political representation of women, particularly concentrating on the general election of 2018.
– Improve the knowledge of women on the democratic cycle and electoral processes;
– Improve the access of women to the information  about the candidates and their political proposals;
– Promote educated voting and paticipation of women;
– Strengthen democracy and transparency of political parties, promoting in particular the representation and participation of women and monitoring mechanisms;
– Promote the political empowerment of women in order to enhance their participation;
– Influence the political and normative framework in order to guarantee the representation of women in political parties and public positions. 

Among financed actions
LOT 1 :
– Strengthening the public institutions and civil society for the prevention of violence, support and protection of victims;
– Strengthening of the institutional capacity in inquiries and criminal prosecution of violence cases;
– Strengthening the capacity of women in grassroots organisations (women organisation, student groups,…);
LOT 2 :
– Civic education;
– Training for the development of skills and competences (leadership, self-esteem, law, rights, gender policies, etc.)
– Monitoring and evaluation of the internal processes leading to the nomination of candidates in political parties;
– Political incidence, lobbying and awareness raising to promote inclusion and effective nomination of women candidates;
