Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* Contribute to the respect for fundamental rights and the consolidation of the rule of law in Malaysia;
* Strengthen the role and capacity of local civil society organisations in promoting political, civil, economic, social and cultural rights

Priorities
* Priority A: Encourage Malaysia to ratify the outstanding core international human rights conventions and to lift any relevant reservations to these instruments;
* Priority B: Enhance and promote equality and non-discrimination in the enjoyment of all human rights by decriminalising and abolish discriminatory laws and policies, especially against the LGBTI community, existing in Malaysia;
* Priority C: Encourage the Government to fulfil its promise to abolish the Death Penalty

Among financed actions
* Advocacy, awareness-raising, information campaigns and documentation activities including public meetings, training on advocacy skills and public consultations;
* Capacity building training, workshops, meetings, seminars, conferences, exchanges, learning visits, mentoring etc;  
* Development of networks of local expertise to reach the regional level;
* Legal support services;
* Organisational development and support activities;
* Transparency and accountability by strengthening institutions, good governance and the rule of law;
* Research: producing evident-based interventions through documentation, study and surveys in providing information to monitor policy implementation, to launch policy advocacy campaign and dialogue for policy changes such as in relevant laws and regulations;
* Joint activities with public institutions

Additional information
* This is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the project: between 24 and 36 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person;
– Be a civil society organisation, including non-governmental non-profit organisations and independent political foundations, community-based organisations and private-sector agencies, institutions and organisations and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level
– Be a public-sector non-profit-agencies, institutions and organisations and networks at local, national, regional and international level;
– Be international and regional inter-governmental organisations;

– Lead applicant established in Malaysia may act individually or with co-applicant(s);
– Lead applicant that is not established in Malaysia must act together with at least one co-applicant established in Malaysia;
– Lead applicant that is an international or regional intergovernmental organisation must act together with at least one co-applicant established in Malaysia;

– In order to be eligible, proposals have to address at least one of the above priorities;

– Actions must take place in Malaysia
