Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* Pursue common agendas for human rights and democratic reform in Kazakhstan;
* Provide support for Human rights and human rights defenders most at risk;
* Provide support in the fight torture, ill-treatment and discrimination; 
* Provide support for democracy, including the promotion of freedom of the media and freedom of expression

Priorities
* Support for Human rights and human rights defenders most at risk, including those identified in the regular dialogue with the Kazakh authorities; 
* Support of Civil Society Organisations’ (CSOs) actions aimed to fight against torture, ill-treatment and discrimination; 
* Support for democracy, including the promotion of freedom of the media and freedom of expression, strengthening of pluralism and the fostering of the citizens’ participation in decision making

Among financed actions
* Activities for strengthening existing civil society platforms, networks and coalitions, including the building of information sharing mechanisms;
* Activities for the institutionalisation of consultation mechanisms between civil society and national or local public institutions;
* Monitoring and watchdog activities;
* Advocacy campaigns;
* Awareness raising and public communication activities

Additional information
* This is a restricted call for proposals, in the first instance only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the project: between 24 and 36 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person or natural person;
– Be a non profit making; 
– Be a specific type of organisation such as non-governmental organisation, international (inter-governmental) organisation;
– Be established in a Member State of the European Union, in Kazakhstan or any other country;

– The lead applicant must act with at least one co-applicant(s);

– Actions must take place in Kazakhstan. Nevertheless, punctual activities may, if duly justified in the description of the action, take place in EU countries when they are directly related to situations arising in Kazakhstan and for the benefit of this country
