This call for proposals aims to strengthen the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the peaceful conciliation of group interests and consolidating political participation and representation.

Priorities and funded actions:

This call for proposals is divided into two lots
– LOT 1: European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) – Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) – Jordan (1 600 000 euro)
– LOT 2: ENPI – Neighbourhood – Mediterranean & Eastern Europe (200 000 euro)

Objectives

* LOT 1
– To support civil society in Jordan in working on human rights (political, civil, economic, social and cultural) and democratisation
– To pursue common agendas for human rights and democratic reform
– To build towards consensus on disputed or controversial areas of policy

* LOT 2
– To improve the observation and monitoring of political, economic and social reforms capability in the areas of democratic institutions, social inclusion and economic development

– Separation of powers, judicial independence in particular
– Improvement in quality of public finance management

Among financed actions

* LOT 1
– Prevention of any form of violence against women and girls, in the perspective of the implementation of the EU Guidelines on violence against women and girls
– Promotion of women’s social, economic and political empowerment and rights

* LOT 2
– Actions aiming to improve the separation of powers and the judicial indipendence
– Actions aiming to enhance social security
– Improving the quality of public finance management
