Priorities and funded actions:

Objective
* Support and strengthen civil society organisations, democracy activists and human rights defenders working on critical human rights and democracy issues in Bangladesh

Priorities
* Support economic, social and cultural rights;
* Support freedom of expression;
* Support accountability, oversight and transparency and the fight against corruption

Among financed actions
* Priority 1:
– Setting up and maintaining citizen dialogue mechanisms to support economic, social, cultural, business and human rights; 
– Support for the formulation of improved access to social and economic policies by local communities;
– Promoting the implementation of core labour rights and standards including the right of workers to freedom of association and the rights of female and migrant workers
* Priority 2:
– Supporting freedom of expression, diversity of public opinion and critical thinking also through social media;
– Facilitating access to information for ordinary citizens on public issues;
– Training Editors and Journalists on Gender sensitive and Human Rights based reporting, publication and broadcast of Gender sensitive and Human Rights based content
* Priority 3
– Training, capacity-building, institutional strengthening, network/coalition building to support accountability, oversight and transparency and the fight against corruption;
– Legal assistance, mediation, monitoring and reporting in the fight against corruption;
– Capacity building of civic groups to promote accountability, transparency and to develop responsive policy platforms, representing citizen’s interests

Additional information
* This is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the project: between 24 and 36 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Be: a Civil Society Organisation (including non-governmental non-profit organisations and independent political foundations, community-based organisations and private-sector non-profit agencies, institutions and organisations and networks thereof at local, national, regional and international level); or a public-sector non-profit agency, institution, organisation or network at local, national, regional or international level;

– The applicant may act individually or with co-applicant(s);
– Applicants established outside Bangladesh must act with at least one Bangladeshi co-applicanrt;
– Action must include at least one local organisation, as lead applicant or co-applicant;

– Actions must take place in Bangladesh. If duly justified, action or a substantial part of the action can take place outside Bangladesh;
– All actions must relate to only one of the specific objectives of this call for proposals
