Priorities and funded actions:

Objective
* Enhance the role of Mexican society in the Human rights promotion and democratic reforms, in promoting the peaceful conciliation of the interests of different groups and in broadening political participation and representation

Priorities
* Have an impact on public policies within the agreements of the High Level Dialogue on Human Rights between the European Union and Mexico;
– Protection of human rights defenders and journalists at risk, at the federal and especially at the state level;
– Generate legislation and mechanisms for prevention, attention to relatives, investigation of cases of disappearance and forced disappearance of persons
– Prevention, eradication and punishment of torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment
* Raise awareness and contribute to the definition, implementation and monitoring of public policies related to the protection of the human rights of migrants, especially accompanied and/or unaccompanied migrant children and adolescents at the local, state and federal levels;
* Advocate and contribute to the definition, implementation and monitoring of public policies to overcome impunity at the federal and state levels;
* Advocate on public policies complementary to the activities carried out by the Spotlight Initiative on the eradication of feminicide in Mexico at the state level, and support for effective gender alerts, access to justice and accompaniment of victims

Among financed actions
– Create spaces for dialogue with the authorities in charge at federal, state and local levels;
– Training activities for federal, state and local authorities;
– Training on international law, international, regional and national mechanisms, in order to develop capacities in advocacy, litigation, strategies for change, research, monitoring, documentation and notification, with a view to using the special procedures of the United Nations, the Inter-American Human Rights System and national protection mechanisms;
– Advocacy activities and development of strategies to counter existing restrictions on human rights work;
– Psychological accompaniment, legal advice and accompaniment and other material and security support for human rights defenders and journalists, family members and victims, as well as witnesses;
– Coordination and cooperation with national and local authorities in particular in public schools on human rights and fundamental freedoms;
– Elaboration of context reports and on actors generating violence and violations of human rights and women’s rights;
– Provide financial assistance to third parties (mandatory)

* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the action: between 30 and 36 months

* Eligibility:
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– Be a non-governmental organization;
– If the applicant is a non-Mexican organization, it must have a Mexican co-applicant

– Actions must take place in Mexico
