EIDHR – Integral Health of Indigenous People – 2021
Funds for: promoting the defense and protection of the rights of the most vulnerable indigenous populations and the strengthening of social cohesion in the context of the covid and post-covid crises

Priorities and funded actions:

* To contribute to the development of preventive measures and protection of the right to comprehensive health for indigenous communities, with emphasis on the most marginalised, minority and/or rural groups, in the current context of the Covid and post-Covid crisis,
* Enable the development of collective and/or individual income-generating activities in the field of health that respect the values of indigenous communities
* To guarantee complementarity between ordinary and traditional health systems, as well as better integration of the notion of integral health of indigenous peoples in public health policies

Priority 1: Strengthening the internal capacities of communities, and developing adapted tools and processes to promote efficient prevention and awareness actions in the face of health emergencies that complement the regular health system,
Priority 2: as a complement to the regular health system, the accompaniment, monitoring and follow-up of people in the communities who cannot benefit from comprehensive health care, in particular the most vulnerable people in the communities.

Among financed actions
– Projects that include effective participation of traditional authorities in connection with local health authorities.
– Interventions that are integrated with other health and specialist services to encourage referral and coordinated care
– Projects that strongly involve members of the indigenous communities, in particular young people, in all stages of the project (formulation, implementation, evaluation, approach to sustainability strategies, governance bodies, etc.).
– Projects that value the traditional knowledge of the communities (especially the practices of traditional medicine) and that integrate in their strategy traditional forms of community life, as well as their linguistic and cultural diversity

The main objective of the action cannot be the production of studies or analyses, but preference will be given to actions that demonstrate a concrete impact among members of indigenous communities on the ground.
