Priorities and funded actions:

Objective
* Strengthen the protection of human rights and the promotion of good governance and democracy by Congolese CSOs, as well as support the creation of an environment conducive to citizen participation

Priorities
* Promote and protect the rights of vulnerable individuals and groups:
– Promote equality between women and men, defend women’s rights and fight against all forms of discrimination and violence against women;
– Contribute to the respect of children’s rights, as set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocols;
– Promote and protect the rights of indigenous peoples;
– Promote equal treatment and integration of people with disabilities into social, economic and political life;
– Improve the conditions of detention and social reintegration of prisoners;
– Promote and protect the rights of LGBTI people

* Contribute to the respect of fundamental freedoms and human dignity:
– Combat torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, combat the culture of impunity and/or provide assistance (legal, psychological, etc.) to victims;
– Contribute to the respect of freedom of expression (offline and online), the strengthening of free access to information, and efforts to professionalize the media;
– Target the promotion and protection of freedom of thought and freedom of assembly and association

* Improve democratic governance, accountability and governance:
– Support participatory and representative democracy, civic and citizen education and the promotion of democratic values and peace;
– Contribute to the analysis of public policies, the citizen monitoring of their implementation and the fight against corruption;
– Strengthen the active participation of young people in public debate

Among financed actions
* Systematic monitoring, data collection and analysis and research-based advocacy activities;
* Publicity and education campaigns;
* Public awareness and communication, and media activities;
* Meetings, seminars and round tables;
* Activities for the institutionalisation of dialogue and consultation mechanisms between civil society and national or local public institutions, as well as with donors;
* Joint activities with public institutions and parliamentary bodies;
* Supervision, coaching, support for project implementation;
* Capacity-building activities for the mobilisation of under-represented and/or marginalized groups;
* Training development activities, provided that they are in line with the specific objectives of the call for proposals;
* Activities to analyse decentralisation and governance mechanisms, including local governance, as well as public policies

* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the action: between 30 and 48 months

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person, an entity without legal capacity or a natural person;
– Be non-profit making;
– Be: a Civil Society Organization

– Congolese applicants may act individually or with co-applicants;
– Non-Congolese applicants must act with at least one Congolese co-applicant;

– Actions must take place in the Republic of Congo
