Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
* Foster transnational and multidisciplinary collaboration and networking in order to accelerate, further characterise and to manage the impact of climate change on nutritional make-up of food, and to propose adaptive strategies/measures to ensure food and nutrition security;

Priorities
* Enhance the nutritional composition and bioavailability of nutrients in food by bio-fortification via crop breeding, agronomic improvement and marine interventions;
* Improve the management of marine and land resources towards increased resilience, sustainability and nutritional quality, and when possible mitigation of GHG emissions;
* Diversify dietary by plants, insects and marine sources;
* Changing the practices of actors in the food system to improve diets

Among financed actions
* Standardisation and harmonisation in the whole process from sample collection to basic analysis (e.g. the use of standard mixtures of microorganisms to control for sequencing and consistency of analysis methods); but at the same time allowing for a certain degree of flexibility to further improve and develop existing methods and innovative approaches. Furthermore, harmonisation methods are needed to integrate data generated in different studies;
* Data handling, knowledge and data sharing by developing of suitable methods to handle large data sets (f. ex. metagenomics sequencing data), but also issues of data ownership, as well as legal and ethical issues regarding the sharing and use of datasets;
* Addressing knowledge gaps by generating new knowledge that can improve the development and implementation of the relevant policies on FNS according to the Food 2030 Strategy. The networking activities should be also focused on the identification of research gaps and challenges in the most upraising questions on FNS such as Nutrition for Sustainable and healthy diets, Climate smart and environmentally sustainable food systems, Circularity and resource efficiency of food systems and Innovation and empowerment of communities

* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only Expressions of Interest will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the action: no reference to a minimum or maximum duration

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person;
– Be a public or private organisation;
– Be: a university, a research centre, a hospital or other health care setting, commercial companies, SMEs;
– Be established in the territory of a country participating to the call;

– The participation of private organisations is encouraged; however, their eligibility depends on the national funding regulations. It is strongly advised to contact the contact person of the funding organisation from your country in advance. Please refer to Annex IO of the Guidelines for Applicants for further information;

– Organisations that are not eligible for funding may participate in the network as i.e. collaborators, if they clearly demonstrate an added value to the consortium and if they are able to provide their own funding
