This call for proposals is launched under the EuRoc project, financed by FP7. It aims to launch and run three industrially-relevant challenges in European robotics with applicability to the factory of the future.

Priorities and funded actions:

–  To select teams of contestants for admission to the qualifying stage (stage 1) of three industry-releted robotic challenges

This call is divided into three challenges
– Challenge 1: Reconfigurable Interactive Manufacturing Cell – To develop the perception and cognition skills needed for a safe close collaboration between humans and robots, as well as to enable multi-role and multi-arm cooperative robotic systems in an industrially relevant setting. All robot cells utilize ROS as the underlying middleware
– Challenge 2: Shop Floor Logistics and Manipulation – To boost mobile manipulation with torque controlled robots towards industrial maturity and thus enable entirely new applications and markets, such as robots acting autonomously in unstructured environments and together with humans
– Challenge 3: Plant Servicing and Inspection –  To exploite the great potential of MAVs (Micro-Aerial Vehicles) by extending their autonomy, which is instrumental in enabling their operation by the untrained mission expert

Each challenge is structured in three successive stages over 4 years
– Stage I: Qualifying (45 selectionned contestants – 15 for each challenge)
– Stage II: Realistic Labs (15 selectionned contestants – 5 for each challenge)
– Stage III: Field Tests (6 selectionned contestants – 2 for each challenge)
