Priorities and funded actions:

Objectives
*  Support transnational, collaborative research projects that address important research questions regarding the effects of food (components) or diets and/or food processing on overweight and related metabolic diseases;
*  Support Early Career Scientists in the area of food, nutrition and health

Priorities
* Identification of food (components) or diets that affect appetite and/or satiety, body weight regulation and/or risk factors for the development of overweight-related metabolic diseases as well as the underlying mechanisms;
* Measure the effect of food processing and/or storage conditions on food components, and the mechanisms by which this will influence appetite and/or satiety, body weight regulation and/or risk factors for the development of overweight-related metabolic diseases;
* Prevent or delay the onset of metabolic diseases by gaining a better understanding on the relation between food, diet and metabolic diseases;
* Promote transnational collaboration, which is necessary for establishing multidisciplinary and complementary consortia that will allow the development of ambitious research projects;
* To build capacities and to enable ECSs to tackle the challenges of JPI HDHL in the coming years through partnerships

Among financed actions
* Studies of disease causes and risk factors;
* Animal studies with clear relevance for human health;
* Harmonisation of protocols;
* Establishment and sharing of data and guidelines or/and sharing of research facilities and capacities; 
* Training:
– Mobility and lab visits of ECSs between partners of the consortium;
– Implementation of summer school(s);
* Modification in food processing to deplete or enrich the food product with a food component;
* Network

Additional information
* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated

* Initial duration of the project: between 1 and 4 years depending on the country (please refer to the Annex A of the call text)

* Eligibility
– Be a legal person;
– Be a public or private organisation;
– Be universities (or other higher education institutions), non-university public research institutes, hospitals and other health care settings as well as commercial companies, in particular, small and medium-sized enterprises;

–  A consortium composed of 3 to 6 partners eligible for the participating funding organisation, established in at least three different participating countries, must be established;
– If the consortium include one or two eligible partners for MEYS, the maximum of partners can be increased to seven or eight, respectively;
– No more than two eligible partners from the same country will be accepted in one consortium
