This call for proposals aims to develop innovation in the field of water.

Priorities and funded actions:

This call for proposals is divided in 3 topics

* Topic 1 Demonstration/pilot activities
Objectives: To accelerate the commercialisation of eco-innovative water solutions with a view to stimulating sustainable economic growth, business and job creation in the water sector

Priorities
Water reuse and recycling; water and waste water treatment, including recovery of resources; water and energy integration; flood and drought risk management; and the role of ecosystem services in the provision of water related services; water governance; decision support systems and monitoring; and financing for innovation

Among financed actions: 
– New or improved innovative water solutions in a real environment
– To help process industries become less water dependant while ensuring efficient management of other resources

* Topic 2 Integrated approaches to food security, low-carbon energy, sustainable water management and climate change mitigation
Objectives: To explore options for low-carbon pathways, such as climate-energy models

Among financed actions:
– Integrated approaches to food security, low-carbon energy, sustainable water management and climate change mitigation
– To develop tools and methodologies for integrating agriculture, forestry, climate change impacts and adaptation with climate-energy-economic models and land-use models, using a multi-disciplinary approach
– To develop a better scientific understanding of the land-water-energy-climate nexus

* Topic 3 Development of water supply and sanitation technology, systems and tools, and/or methodologies
Objectives: To evelop water supply and sanitation technology, systems and tools, and/or methodologies to manage risks associated with water supply and sanitation and/or cross-boundary water management issues, or integrated water resources management systems for sustainable agriculture and food security, sustainable environment protection and economic growth, focused on the non-EU Mediterranean countries and/or Africa
